Intuitive has announced a series of new and upcoming innovations across its robotic-assisted surgery ecosystem, including enhancements to the da Vinci 5 surgical system, advanced telepresence capabilities, extended-use Force Feedback instruments, and new features designed to improve product security, reliability, and surgeon training.
The company said the updates are aimed at supporting hospitals and healthcare providers in improving patient outcomes, enhancing surgeon and care team experiences, and expanding access to minimally invasive surgical care globally.
“Intuitive is guided by a commitment to helping our customers achieve the Quintuple Aim: improving patient care and outcomes, optimising surgeon and care team experience, and expanding access to minimally invasive care while lowering the total cost of care,” said Dave Rosa, CEO of Intuitive. “We recognise that product quality, safety and reliability are of the utmost importance to our customers, as they increasingly rely on our products to serve millions of patients globally.”
Among the key upgrades announced are more than 100 planned updates and user experience improvements for the da Vinci 5 platform. These include enhanced telepresence capabilities that allow remote physicians to observe and guide surgical procedures with improved operating room visibility, live cursor functionality, and upgraded audio communication tools. According to the company, the enhancements are expected to strengthen remote collaboration, surgeon education, and global training opportunities across its network of more than 101,000 da Vinci-trained surgeons.
The company also introduced a mobile login feature for the da Vinci 5 surgeon console, enabling surgeons to securely log in using their smartphones with multifactor authentication. The feature is designed to simplify workflow access while improving cybersecurity and system protection.
In addition, Intuitive announced updates to SimNow 2, its virtual surgical simulation platform. Six new simulation exercises, along with targeted warm-up and skills-maintenance playlists, have been added to support continuous learning and surgical proficiency development.
The company said the updates will begin rolling out in measured launches across the United States starting in June, with broader global availability planned in the future, subject to regulatory approvals and regional rollout schedules.
