Stryker’s Inari Division Debuts InThrill Thrombectomy System

First and only purpose-built solution delivering rapid and complete luminal clot removal in small vessel and arteriovenous access cases

Inari Medical, now part of Stryker (NYSE: SYK), a global leader in medical technologies, has announced the commercial launch of its next-generation InThrill Thrombectomy System. This innovative device is the first and only thrombectomy system purpose-built to address the challenges of small vessel and arteriovenous (AV) access clot removal with rapid and complete luminal clearance.

Designed for exceptional performance and optimised user experience, the second-generation InThrill Thrombectomy System features an 8 French over-the-wire platform. It includes both the InThrill thrombectomy catheter and the InThrill sheath, built on a familiar foundation but significantly enhanced to set a new standard for AV access and small vessel thrombectomy.

Key advancements in the new InThrill system include:

  • Enhanced radial force to improve apposition with the vessel wall for more effective clot removal

  • An offset single open mouth designed for superior clot capture

  • Internal struts engineered to evenly distribute clot material within the device

  • A redesigned backend to streamline ergonomics and enhance ease of use for clinicians

The first commercial use of the new InThrill Thrombectomy System took place on 19 May 2025 at the UPMC healthcare system, led by Dr Joshua Pinter and Dr Anish Ghodadra. Sharing his clinical experience, Dr Pinter noted, “The next generation of InThrill has made our thrombectomies more effective and consistent than ever.” Dr Ghodadra added, “Inari’s commitment to building a dedicated small vessel tool has transformed our approach to AV access thrombectomy.”

Tim Lanier, President of the Inari Division at Stryker, commented, “The launch of the next-generation InThrill Thrombectomy System reflects our deep commitment to addressing real-world challenges in vascular care. This latest innovation not only delivers new tools to physicians but also strengthens our ongoing mission to improve patient outcomes through targeted, evidence-driven technology.”

The InThrill Thrombectomy System represents a significant step forward in the treatment of vascular thrombosis, empowering clinicians with enhanced precision, speed, and control when dealing with complex cases involving small vessels and AV access.
