Esperto Medical has received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to advance the development of a continuous, wearable blood pressure monitoring system.
The project focuses on enabling noninvasive, real-time blood pressure measurement using Esperto’s proprietary Resonance Sonomanometry (RSM) technology. This approach is designed to provide absolute blood pressure readings in mmHg without the need for periodic calibration, addressing one of the most persistent challenges in wearable cardiovascular monitoring.
Continuous blood pressure monitoring remains a major unmet need in healthcare, as traditional cuff-based measurements are intermittent and often fail to capture fluctuations that occur throughout the day. With hypertension affecting over 1.3 billion people globally, there is increasing demand for wearable solutions that enable continuous, out-of-clinic monitoring and early detection of cardiovascular risks.
Through the ARPA-H SBIR program, Esperto Medical aims to further develop and validate its wearable platform, moving toward a clinically viable solution that can support both remote patient monitoring and long-term disease management. The funding will support ongoing research and development efforts, including system optimization and clinical validation.
As the project progresses, Esperto Medical’s technology could play a key role in transforming how blood pressure is monitored, shifting from episodic measurements to continuous, data-driven insights that support personalized and preventive healthcare.
