Imperative Care has announced the launch of its latest innovation, the Zoom DuoPort, which supports a novel Continuous Dual Aspiration Technique (CDAT) to improve outcomes in ischemic stroke treatment. This new approach allows physicians to use two Zoom Aspiration Catheters simultaneously from a single vacuum source, providing enhanced control and faster clot removal during thrombectomy procedures.
The Zoom Stroke System, which recently received FDA 510(k) clearance, now becomes the first and only platform to offer continuous dual aspiration. Clinical data from the Imperative Trial demonstrated that dual aspiration with Zoom catheters is both effective and efficient, with a median procedure time of just 19 minutes from groin puncture to reperfusion — one of the fastest reported times in major mechanical thrombectomy trials.
Early patient cases have shown encouraging results. At Oklahoma University Health, Dr. Hakeem Shakir successfully used CDAT in a case involving an ICA-terminus occlusion. The Zoom 88 and Zoom 71 catheters were deployed using Zoom DuoPort, resulting in first-pass TICI 3 revascularization. Dr. Shakir emphasized that the CDAT approach provided improved procedural control and efficiency compared to traditional methods requiring multiple pumps or manual syringes.
The introduction of Zoom DuoPort and CDAT marks a significant step in stroke intervention by streamlining aspiration thrombectomy and offering real-time clot capture feedback. The system allows for continuous aspiration within the sterile field and aligns with the company’s full-system approach to stroke care—from access to clot removal.
