To provide advanced radiosurgery educational training to radiation oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists

Apollo Cancer Centres (ACC), in association with Accuray, a global provider of radiation therapy devices, has announced the launch of the Indian Sub-Continent's first robotic and stereotactic therapy education centre, Robotic & Stereotactic Radiosurgery Programme.

This initiative will be established at ACC in Chennai and Bengaluru and will provide advanced radiosurgery educational training to radiation oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists, and technologists from hospitals, cancer centres, and other institutions. Accuray’s expansion to Apollo Cancer Centers in Chennai and Bengaluru with the CyberKnife S7 System marks the enhancement of cancer care in India.

With its unparalleled precision, the CyberKnife S7 System redefines treatment standards, empowering clinicians to optimize outcomes. Additionally, it enables the delivery of high doses of radiation, typically in 1 to 5 sessions for fast and effective treatments, marking a significant advancement in cancer therapy.

Dr Shankar Vangipuram, Senior Consultant – Radiation Oncology, said, “The launch of the CyberKnife Academia at Apollo Cancer Centre is an exceptional opportunity to enhance skills and knowledge in Robotic & Stereotactic Radiosurgery. Since pioneering CyberKnife Robotic Surgery System in India, lives of several patients have been transformed, redefining Cancer Care in our country. We look forward to sharing valuable expertise and insights during the training program which will enable us to better serve our patients and set new global standards for cancer care."

The programme includes comprehensive discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on training focusing on robotic and stereotactic radiosurgery. This initiative marks a milestone in India’s medical education landscape, making world-class training available locally.

Participants will engage in in-depth discussions, and demonstrations ensuring a robust and practical learning experience.
