BIRAC showcases Indian medtech innovations spanning robotics, prosthetics and assistive care

The BIRAC pavilion at Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 featured startups developing 3D-printed surgical models, robotic rehabilitation systems, myoelectric prosthetics and assistive technologies.

India’s Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council has showcased a group of biotechnology and medical technology startups at Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 in New Delhi, highlighting locally developed technologies across surgical planning, rehabilitation, prosthetics and assistive care.

The BIRAC pavilion formed part of the event held at Bharat Mandapam from 12–15 August under the theme “Made in India, Made for India, Made for the World”.

Among the technologies presented was a portfolio of 3D-printed surgical models from Reconstructive Healthcare Solutions, designed to support clinical planning by providing physical representations of patient anatomy.

GenElek Technologies showcased robotic exoskeleton technology, while Exobot Dynamics presented myoelectric prosthetics that use muscle signals to support movement.

Rymo Technologies highlighted rehabilitation systems combining robotics and artificial intelligence for neurological rehabilitation.

Bengaluru-based Translead Medtech presented Stand at Eaze, an unpowered assistive chair designed to help users transition between sitting and standing through a compliant hinge mechanism.

The technology is based on biomechanics research from the Indian Institute of Science and has been licensed exclusively to Translead Medtech. The device is registered with India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation as a Class A medical device, with clinical evaluation underway at partner hospitals.

Torchit also showcased assistive technologies for people with visual impairment, including the Saarthi Smart Mobility Aid, AI Vision Glasses, AI Reader and braille-based technologies.

BIRAC used the event to highlight its wider support framework for Indian healthcare startups, including funding, incubation, intellectual property assistance, regulatory support and technology transfer.

The participating companies reflect a growing focus on translating engineering, robotics and artificial intelligence research into medical devices designed for rehabilitation, accessibility and clinical use.
