Signia launches MaX AI hearing aid platform with four deep neural networks

The new platform combines speech detection, own-voice recognition, scene analysis and noise processing to improve hearing performance in complex group conversations.

Signia has introduced Multi-adaptive Xperience, or MaX, an artificial intelligence-powered hearing aid platform built around four task-specific deep neural networks designed to interpret multiple dimensions of sound simultaneously.

The platform uses what Signia calls Acoustic Intelligence to analyse speech, noise, environmental conditions and the wearer’s own voice in real time.

Unlike hearing aid architectures that apply AI primarily to noise reduction, MaX is designed to coordinate multiple AI functions across the listening environment.

The four deep neural networks are dedicated to Speech Detection, Own Voice Detection, Scene Analysis and Noise Processing.

According to Signia, information is continuously shared across the four networks, allowing the platform to make sound-processing decisions based on the broader listening environment rather than a single acoustic parameter.

“We know that the biggest unmet need for hearing aid wearers is the ability to fully engage in the dynamic group conversations that happen in noisy, multi-talker environments,” said Jose Alves, Head of Signia.

“With Signia MaX, we’ve moved beyond the limitations of one-dimensional AI, unlocking system intelligence that understands the full moment.”

The platform supports four core AI-enabled functions.

RealTime Conversation Enhancement AI is designed to locate and enhance multiple conversation partners in dynamic group settings and processes 75% more data points per second compared with Signia IX.

Own Voice Processing AI provides automatic recognition of the wearer’s voice without requiring in-clinic calibration.

Ambient Scene Adaptation AI continuously evaluates different environmental characteristics rather than relying only on predefined listening programmes.

Dynamic Noise Control AI assesses the type and location of noise and whether the wearer is engaged in conversation before adjusting noise reduction.

Signia has also integrated the platform with its ear-to-ear communication technology so that both hearing aids remain synchronised as the acoustic environment changes.

The system is powered by a new Signia MaX chip.

Compared with the company’s previous-generation platform, the chip provides 54 times more processing power, 50% greater energy efficiency and twice the memory.

Signia said the additional computing capability supports continuous, real-time AI analysis while maintaining all-day performance.

The company also cited internal testing showing that 97% of wearers performed better with Signia MaX in noisy group conversations compared with selected competing devices, while the platform ranked first in signal-to-noise ratio performance in group conversations in noise.

The first hearing aid available on the platform is Pure C&G MaX, a receiver-in-canal device.

The hearing aid includes OneConnect Technology supporting Bluetooth Classic, LE Audio, Telecoil and Auracast connectivity.

It is supplied with a portable charger capable of storing up to four full charges. A full charge takes four hours, while 30 minutes of charging can provide up to six hours of runtime.

“With Signia Pure C&G MaX, connectivity no longer needs to define the hearing aid conversation,” Alves said.

He added that the platform allows hearing care professionals to focus more on audiological needs, listening environments and patient outcomes rather than device compatibility.

Signia MaX launched initially in markets including the United States, Germany and the Nordics, with additional markets expected to follow later in 2026.

The launch reflects a broader trend in hearing technology towards embedding more advanced AI processing directly within medical devices, allowing systems to respond continuously to complex real-world environments rather than operating through isolated automated functions.
