Nanodropper, a pioneering US-based healthcare startup focused on improving access to vision-saving medications, has secured 2nd place in the prestigious K-Startup Grand Challenge 2024 in South Korea, earning recognition among the world’s most innovative startups. Organized by the South Korean Ministry of SMEs and Start-ups, the competition acknowledged Nanodropper for its game-changing approach to reducing medication waste and improving adherence in eye care.

At the core of Nanodropper’s innovation is the Nanodropper Adaptor, a micro-volume delivery device that optimizes eyedrop usage. Compatible with over 90% of eyedrop bottles, the device reduces droplet size to the appropriate volume, cutting costs, extending bottle lifespan, and minimizing side effects that often hinder patient adherence.

"We are honored to be recognized in the K-Startup Grand Challenge," said Dr. Allisa Song, CEO of Nanodropper, a Korean-American entrepreneur. "Our mission is to make vision-saving medications more accessible and affordable while improving patient outcomes. We are eager to collaborate with Korean ophthalmologists and healthcare leaders to drive meaningful change."

Nanodropper’s innovation has been validated through four clinical trials, demonstrating significant benefits, particularly for glaucoma patients, who require long-term eyedrop use. Dr. Hyeong-Gon Yu, a leading ophthalmologist at Sky Eye Clinic in Seoul, emphasized its importance:

"Nanodropper has the potential to enhance treatment efficacy by reducing the side effects of oversized eye drops. This innovation is especially valuable for patients with chronic conditions like glaucoma and those using multiple eye medications."

Nanodropper’s success in the K-Startup Grand Challenge 2024 further solidifies its position as a leader in health equity and eye care innovation. The company is expanding its presence in South Korea, working with local healthcare professionals and government agencies to build a more sustainable, effective, and cost-efficient vision care system.
