New AMA CPT Codes Expand Access to Thyroid Nodule Radiofrequency Ablation

Effective January 1, 2025, the newly introduced CPT codes will streamline reimbursement and drive wider adoption of RFA as a minimally invasive alternative to thyroid surgery.
RFA for Life has announced that the American Medical Association (AMA) has introduced new CPT codes for thyroid nodule radiofrequency ablation (RFA), marking a significant milestone in advancing patient access to this minimally invasive treatment.
Effective January 1, 2025, the new CPT codes will streamline reimbursement and encourage broader adoption of RFA for benign thyroid nodules. The approval reflects growing clinical evidence supporting RFA as a safe and effective alternative to surgery for reducing thyroid nodules while preserving thyroid function.
