Kantoko has raised $3.5 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to expand its online ADHD care platform across Australia.
The round was led by Side Stage Venture and Tenmile, with participation from angel investors including the founders of Go1.
Founded in 2023 by CEO Zac Altman, Kantoko provides adults with access to ADHD assessment, treatment and ongoing support through a purpose-built digital platform.
The company is targeting gaps in access to ADHD care, including long waiting times, high upfront costs and fragmented support after diagnosis.
Kantoko said 60% of its patient base are women, with nearly half aged between 25 and 44. Almost one in five patients lives in a small rural or remote community.
The platform is designed to provide continuous GP-led care rather than limiting support to individual consultations.
“I had no choice but to build this company,” said Zac Altman, Founder and CEO of Kantoko. “I went through re-diagnosis as an adult and saw how broken the system is at every step. Nobody should have to fight that hard for care that changes their life, so we built the system that should have existed all along.”
The new funding will be used to expand Kantoko’s clinical network, accelerate development of its care platform and extend access to ADHD services for more adults.
“ADHD is where the access gap is widest, so it’s where we started,” Altman said. “But what we’ve built, continuous GP-led care designed around the patient rather than the waiting room, is how chronic conditions should be managed everywhere. This funding scales the reach of that care – and it’s just the beginning.”
Ben Grabiner, Founding Partner at Side Stage Ventures, said scaling access to ADHD care remains a significant healthcare challenge.
“One in twenty people worldwide live with ADHD, and scaling high-quality care for them is one of the biggest unsolved problems in health,” he said.
Dr Steve Burnell, Managing Director at Tenmile, said adult ADHD remains under-recognised in Australia and is associated with delayed diagnosis and limited access to timely clinical assessment.
Kantoko will use the seed funding to scale its clinical capacity and digital infrastructure while continuing to provide assessment, treatment and ongoing care through its online platform.
