Siemens Healthineers Champions Digital Revolution in Indonesia’s Healthcare at HMA 2024

Global medical-technology leader Siemens Healthineers  led a dynamic panel discussion about Indonesia’s healthcare landscape as it undergoes nation-wide reformation with the help of digital technologies. This panel took place in Bali, Indonesia, at Hospital Management Asia (HMA) 2024, an annual regional healthcare event that is a cornerstone in facilitating best-in-class learning and knowledge exchange among industry leaders to help them stay at the forefront of global trends. Marking our eighth consecutive year of partnership, Siemens Healthineers’ participation in this year’s event allows us to continue working alongside regional players to drive improved outcomes and efficiency across Asia.

The panel featured key industry experts including the Medical Director of PT Pertamina Bina Medika – Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) Dr. Lia Partakusuma, ICON Cancer Centre CEO for ASEAN and Hong Kong, Serena Wee, as well as Siemens Healthineers Managing Director for Indonesia, Alfred Fahringer. Delving deep into the critical challenges facing Indonesia’s healthcare sector, the discussion explored issues in accessibility and affordability, and the pivotal role of collaboration and innovation in supporting better integration of digital innovations. Panellists underscored the need for strong public-private partnerships to drive seamless adoption of advanced medical technologies and improve healthcare accessibility with digital solutions across the country.

Siemens Healthineers’ ongoing strategic partnership with Bali International Hospital (BIH) – which is located in the newly established Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK), Bali – plays a critical role in driving the momentum of the island’s digital healthcare transformation and elevating the quality of its healthcare delivery. The partnership equips BIH with Siemens Healthineers’ cutting-edge medical technologies for diagnostic imaging and therapy to enhance clinical outcomes across a range of medical conditions, including cancer and cardiovascular disease. It also provides BIH with advanced digital technologies that incorporate artificial intelligence to enhance diagnostic capabilities, along with a state-of-the-art archiving system that ensures streamlined and secure access to patient data across the hospital network. Scheduled to be operational at the end of 2024, BIH is working closely with Siemens Healthineers to uphold international standards in services and establish Bali as a leading global health tourism destination.

Digital medical technologies play a critical role in addressing these gaps, and partnerships help us elevate the standards of care. Following the session, Siemens Healthineers also announced a strategic partnership with Mayapada Healthcare to implement a digital transformation solution aimed at revolutionising patient care through advanced medical imaging data management. The partnership was formalised through a signing ceremony sealed by Fahringer and Dr. Dini Handayani, MARS, FISQUA, FIPC, Chief Medical Officer of Mayapada Healthcare.

HMA 2024 was a two-day conference that convened healthcare leaders from across the region, including government officials, hospital owners, C-level executives, directors, and clinicians, to discuss digital healthcare transformation and solutions for improving outcomes and enhancing efficiency. Siemens Healthineers served as the title sponsor for the event, with Managing Board Member Elisabeth Staudinger delivering the expert keynote speech titled Pioneering Breakthroughs: Addressing Challenges, Creating Futures.
