LifeLens gains FDA clearance for expanded wearable vital sign monitoring

The clearance expands the LifeLens Physiological Monitor beyond ECG acquisition to include respiratory, temperature, activity and gait parameters.

LifeLens Technologies has received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance for expanded indications covering its LifeLens Physiological Monitor.

The clearance adds blood oxygen saturation, heart rate, respiration rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature and wellness parameters including activity, body position, step count and gait analysis. These are added to the monitor’s existing FDA clearance for ECG acquisition.

The expanded indication strengthens the device’s role as a wearable physiological monitoring platform. Instead of focusing only on ECG, the system can now support a broader set of vital sign and movement-related parameters that may be useful across clinical monitoring, recovery and connected care settings.

This is relevant because hospitals and care teams increasingly need continuous or near-continuous patient data outside traditional bedside monitoring. Wearable monitors can help extend observation into lower-acuity settings, remote care models and post-discharge pathways where intermittent checks may miss changes in patient status.

The expanded clearance also adds gait and body position parameters, which may be useful in mobility assessment and patient recovery monitoring. These data points can complement core vital signs when clinicians need a broader view of patient activity and physiological status.

LifeLens said the clearance validates the system’s accuracy, safety and clinical applicability. The broader monitor capability may support health systems looking for wearable tools that combine cardiac, respiratory, temperature and movement data in one platform.

The next stage will likely involve clinical deployment, workflow integration and evidence generation across care models where wearable monitoring can support earlier recognition of deterioration or recovery trends.
