In a sector where uninterrupted patient care and energy efficiency are critical, Smart Joules has introduced a transformative solution DeJoule, India’s first full-stack intelligent Building Management System (BMS). Combining lean hardware, real-time machine learning, and automated fault detection, DeJoule is redefining how healthcare facilities manage energy, comfort, and operational reliability.
Designed specifically for energy-intensive hospital environments, DeJoule optimises chiller plant operations to ensure peak efficiency without compromising on patient comfort or equipment performance. Instead of relying on continuous manual interventions, hospitals can now leverage DeJoule’s intelligent automation to prevent faults, ensure infection control, and maintain ideal conditions in ICUs, operating theatres, and patient areas.
The technology’s impact is already visible across leading healthcare institutions:
Aster Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (Aster MIMS), a 600-bed hospital, achieved a 15 per cent reduction in HVAC energy usage, saving 525 kWh of energy daily. DeJoule’s Smart Alerts enabled predictive maintenance, allowing technical teams to resolve issues in minutes and prevent costly downtime.
KIMS Hospitals recorded a 22 per cent increase in energy efficiency, translating to cost savings of Rs108 million. The system enhanced cooling efficiency to 0.45 kWh/TRH and enabled the hospital to transition from fixed to dynamic air and water flow controls.
Across industries, DeJoule has collectively conserved over 30.6 crore kWh of energy, resulting in ₹253 crore in cost savings and the prevention of over 2.24 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to the annual energy needs of nearly 34 lakh households.
This innovation comes at a time when the Indian intelligent building management systems (BMS) market, valued at $ 8.57 billion in 2024, is projected to grow at a CAGR of 24.10 per cent to reach $ 74.26 billion by 2034. The rapid adoption of intelligent automation underscores how hospitals, commercial spaces, and industries are embracing smart technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, and improve occupant experiences.
With DeJoule, Smart Joules is paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient healthcare ecosystem—one where operational excellence, cost optimisation, and patient care go hand in hand.
