Align Technology Plans $200 Million Manufacturing Facility in Hyderabad

The planned facility will be Align’s first manufacturing site in India and is expected to support Asia-Pacific operations, supply chain resilience and growing Invisalign demand.

Align Technology has announced plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, in 2027, strengthening its global operations and Asia-Pacific manufacturing footprint.

The planned investment reflects growing demand for digital orthodontic and restorative dentistry solutions across high-growth markets. Align designs, manufactures and sells the Invisalign clear aligner system, iTero intraoral scanners and exocad CAD/CAM software, positioning the company across multiple parts of the digital dentistry workflow.

The Hyderabad facility is expected to involve approximately $200 million in capital and operational expenditure over the next several years and create more than 300 direct jobs. The investment was contemplated within Align’s capital equipment guidance for 2026.

The site will complement Align’s existing Hyderabad presence, which includes its Global Capability Centre and Align Innovation Centre. It would become the company’s first manufacturing facility in India and its fourth globally, reinforcing Hyderabad’s role within Align’s broader operations network.

From an operational perspective, the facility is intended to bring Align closer to customers in Asia-Pacific while improving supply chain resilience, manufacturing efficiency and regional service levels. The company expects the proposed facility to begin operations in 2027 and become margin accretive in its first year.

The expansion also supports Align’s wider digital platform strategy. The company serves approximately 299.5 thousand doctor customers and has helped doctors treat approximately 22.8 million patients with the Invisalign System over the past 29 years. It also identifies a 600 million consumer market opportunity worldwide.

Commercial execution will depend on construction timelines, regulatory and approval processes, demand conditions, supply chain stability and competitive dynamics. For healthcare manufacturing in India, the announcement also signals continued interest in building local capacity for advanced medical device production and digital health-enabled dental technologies.

As demand for personalised orthodontic treatment and digitally enabled dental workflows grows, regional manufacturing capacity will become increasingly important. Align’s Hyderabad expansion aims to drive a wider industry shift toward localised production, faster customer support and stronger regional infrastructure for scalable medtech growth.
