Advanced Features Enhance Diagnostic Precision and Workflow Efficiency

Cadwell Industries, Inc., a global leader in neurodiagnostic, neuromonitoring and sleep solutions, launched its latest Sierra™ software release providing patent-pending, fully-synchronized electromyography (EMG) and ultrasound to support enhanced clinical insights and a streamlined workflow.

Combined with the Sierra Summit® electrodiagnostic system and Sierra NMUS1® integrated ultrasound, this software update seamlessly brings electrophysiological data and ultrasound imaging together in real-time on a single screen, assisting in needle EMG, chemodenervation, nerve block and hydrodissection procedures.

"Synchronizing EMG and ultrasound data is a crucial step toward advancing neuromuscular medicine," said Abe Gardner, Cadwell's Global EMG Specialist and Product Manager. "A unified data stream aids in more precise diagnostics, paving the way for AI-driven analysis and future breakthroughs in research and clinical care."

Alongside concurrent EMG and ultrasound, the Sierra software update also offers advances in image processing to help improve visualization of neuromuscular structures and new tools designed to support the electrodiagnostic workflow, including:

  • Q-Mode™: Brings improvements to Cadwell's patent-pending research tool for quantifying pathology in muscle and nerve tissue, featuring new tools to improve reproducibility of data collection and results
  • EMG/US Guidance+: Leverages concurrent EMG and ultrasound technology to support chemodenervation and other guided injection procedures with powerful reporting, needle visualization and injection tracking tools
  • Dual/Quad Mode: Offers side-by-side visualization of anatomical structures, allowing real-time comparison of normal versus abnormal physiology and structural changes
  • Auto Mute: Automatically silences audio feedback when the needle is removed
  • Sierra Analytics™: Includes DBSync and other data mining tools for retrospective analysis and research of clinical data

These innovations join the powerful suite of electrodiagnostic protocols available in Sierra software. Cadwell will debut the Sierra software update at the 2025 American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting.
